In IL the restrictions make it borderline pointless if you follow the law to the T - which most CC holders do. Lets say going into a church or other building that bans guns you have to store your firearm in a case that locks or put in in a case and then lock you car. Any criminal knowing the law can simply hangout at such buildings wait for gun owners to follow the law, break into their cars and still the firearm. As well this exposes one as a concealed carrier and defeats the purpose all together. You can't simply slip in under the drivers seat or toss it in the glove box or center console. As well half the buildings in IL have a no gun sticker on their doors. So really the only time I can carry is in my car and milling around.

Just roll the dice and carry on. If you don't know how to conceal your firearm from the average security or private police officer, you have no business carrying concealed. If you are discovered because you needed your sidearm for protection, violating the private property exclusion is the least of your problems.

Don't try it at my church - we have former secret service, FBI and active homeland security guys working the entrances.

I am a CC permit holder and everyone who gets to know me likes me. I figure everyone on here is just a friend I haven't met yet.

I figure if you break into my home and threaten me or my 65" flatscreen with bodily harm or property damage then I can put that gentleman away and put the thug on. Only my example of a thug is a well trained American Soldier/Marksman who takes great pride in hitting what I aim at. I will stop any threat dead in it's tracks choosing not to try and wound you. I will shoot center mass until the threat is eliminated.

SFC Jim Ruether - Then you must practice, practice, and practice some more. Muscle memory is critical in high stress situations.
A major improvement over pure muscle memory is just not giving a sh*t how everything plays out. All of us want to survive but as all of us will eventually die, stop worrying about the inevitable. Be cool, calm, collected and put two mid-chest and one in the head.
As Wyatt Earp put it "make haste slowly". You cannot be excited and do this effectively.

I conceal and open carry based on the pistol I bring outta the house that day. Though being a resident of NJ, my non-resident AZ CCW permit isn't valid and by law, have to leave the gun at home. However, some laws are meant to be bent or even broken. I live just outside of Trenton, I've carried a loaded gun outside the house even being here. The safety of myself and family is my own responsibility. What good is a cop if they can't be there instantaneously?
