I agree with don't depend on your firearm to be the safety for you, I take responsibility for ALL my actions w/a firearm. It needs to be reflexive action.

It shouldnt be any different on a civilian range in my opinion, if you see someone acting unsafe, you should try to help them correct it. remember: its for your safety & life too, so do whats necessary to protect yourself and others from irresponsible behavior.

The command "Check Fire" should be taught on every range and retaught when needed!

With any type of weapon without a safety, you still follow the basic range rules. 1. keep the weapon pointed down range, 2. you don't load it until you are ready to shoot it, 3. you keep your finger off the trigger until you have a proper sight picture and are ready to fire. Otherwise the nice range NCO will come by your firing point and slap your helmet with his range safety paddle and chew you a new one.

Amen brother. Muzzle awareness and trigger discipline are the key.

Hello Sir,
Great to share the same opinion about firearms safety with you. Once that bullet leaves the barrel it's everyone's responsibility. See an unsafe act, yell or scream if necessary "CHECKFIRE" tell that person to remove their magazine, clear the weapon, place their weapon on safe, lay their weapon down and step back until the situation can be squared away. Often a person has picked up some bad habits and doesn't even know they are doing anything wrong.
