MAJ L. Nicholas Smith No,Sir, you are not the only one who tunes out what "celebrities" have to say in the political sense and i believe the country would be much better off if everyone tuned them out.

I would like to see the same test for anyone who is registering to vote. I know, the law says there cannot be any restrictions to voting but our country and citizens as a whole do not have a clue how our government works. A perfect example is all of the recent people running for president who are promising to make these sweeping changes on their first day in office. Many people believe that the president has that kind of power. That is what propelled Obama into office. If people knew even a little about our three branch government they would understand that the president cannot do anything alone, it requires the House to vote on the action that the president wants to take. Unfortunately it appears even or representatives don't know this because they haven't called out our current president in his overstepping.

SSG Ed Mikus & SFC Wade W. - Gentlemen; I can't go along with establishing a minimum educational requirement to vote (a position completely at odds with the one that the Founding Fathers had as their Original Intent), but I could go along with setting up a computer controlled, random access, testing system whereby people could voluntarily take tests of ever increasing length and difficulty and that had ever increasing pass marks in order to entitle themselves to ADDITIONAL votes. [Of course there would also be mandatory periodic retesting in order to maintain those additional votes.]

PS - SFC Wade W. - Sergeant; The American "Three Branch System" is hardly unique, almost all countries have a similar system. It may be known by different names and the way people are selected for the branches may differ, and the relative power of the branches may differ, but almost all countries have a very similar system.

On the other hand the old Russian saying "Есть всегда два правительства, тот, который говорит, что правительство и тот, который на самом деле работает вещи." ("There are always two governments, the one that says that it is the government and the one that actually runs things.") is equally true in all countries (although the degree of overlap does vary).

COL Ted Mc I am tracking with you, sir. I have been fortunate enough to have lived in many countries around the world and been exposed to all sorts of different government systems. That being said, I believe that our first generation immigrants have a better grasp of our government and how it works than our natural born citizens. I have shared this viewpoint on several occasions. I would love to see our citizens either when they get their driver's license or when registering to vote to take a similar test. Maybe not to qualify to vote but to inform them of their knowledge or lack of knowledge of our governments at the local level and the federal. I know our laws will not allow any sort of test (I stated that above) for qualifications to vote but I do believe the current situation of politics and governance are suffering due to the low information (educated) voter. It has hurt our nation and will continue to do damage as the population grows.

SFC Wade W. - Sergeant; Could it be because they actually have to pass a test where there are no "social passes" and you actually have to get the whole answer correct because there aren't any "part marks"?
