COL Ted Mc - Come on now. Let's be honest. The bias to the Left has been evident in the news media ever since Vietnam. You know it and I know it. Leftists have attempted to cover for their friends in the media by claiming otherwise, but the truth is clearly evident in the reports. The fact that most Americans who are fundamentally conservative and distrust the media shows that they aren't getting away with it.

CPT Jack Durish - Captain; I'm not taking any position on which way the media is ACTUALLY biased, I'm making a comment on how those with "left-leaning" and "right-leaning" political orientations PERCEIVE the media as being biased.

I don't worry too much about "media bias" because I have/use sufficient sources to (pretty much) balance the biases out and I only believe what people tell me to believe if it accords with what I have already figured out for myself.

COL Ted Mc - And I responded precisely to that comment. Those who are Right-leaning, have plenty of pundits who are unabashedly Right-leaning. Those who are Left-leaning have those who pretend to be "unbiased" news journalists who readily self-identify as Left-leaning, but insist that their coverage is unbiased. Those on the Left who complain about news media being Right-leading are merely using a canard to cover for their friends in the media.

And, I too depend upon multiple resources as I attempt to figure out what is actually happening. Sadly, I can't find many journalists whom I can trust. Sadly because I grew up with great journalism. I grew up in Baltimore reading H. L. Menecken. I read the NY Times, Baltimore Sun, and English edition of Le Monde. Yes, even as a teenager I read multiple newspapers. There's not a one I can trust today. Network news broadcasts are completely biased to the Left. Fox News tries but is foiled in its attempt by being forced to depend on biased news sources.

CPT Jack. I also have little respect for the main stream media. Some networks and station choose not to report things because they are not newsworthly. When in reality it about something they just don't want to report on. You do have to sort through the bull and sometimes make up your own mind. Also some reporters have agendas they want to get across. We also rum into the one that tell tall tails then hear "fog of war" or "I can't recall". Sound like one of our presidental hopefuls.

MCPO Roger Collins - Yes, my left-biased sources like BBC world service, NPR and CNN, and reporters like Julie Mason and Michael Smerconish.

I look very hard for unbiased sources and completely ignore the extremes of both wings.

Cpl (Join to see) - MSNBC is just as biased, but their agenda is progressive rather than regressive (the very definitions of liberal and conservative) so they are less destructive.

LTC (Join to see) - Major; The difference between "Liberal" and "Conservative" is the difference between "progressive" and "reactionary" NOT the difference between "progressive" and "regressive".

Those who long for "The Good Old Days" are either those who don't realize that "The Good Old Days" weren't actually all that good for people like them of those who would have had it just as good in "The Good Old Days" as they do now (and considering "knouting the peasants" and "Droit de Seigneur" possibly better).

When an old friend of mine wrote "The only thing worse than knee jerk conservatives are knee jerk liberals. At least with knee jerk conservatives, you know what the resulting problems will be if you take their advice. " he was VERY close to the mark.
