I think this needs to really be looked at. I have a concealed carry permit, I spent 22 years in the military, I grew up around guns my entire life, so why is it that I can be trusted enough outside Post to have a gun, but not on Post? The logic in this seems to escape me. 8 minutes or 10 minutes to me is a long time for response to someone shooting a weapon at others. Remember the days (and I am sure they still do it) you only had 9 seconds to dawn and clear your protective mask? Remember thinking that (while in the gas chamber) holy crap, this is not enough time...I need to do this faster or I will be snottin' all over the place.
I know these two are completely opposite ends of the spectrum, but if there had been someone with a concealed at these incidents, maybe the death toll wouldn't have been so high. Even one death on your home turf, is one to many.
We have always accepted, that while deployed that the possibility is there. But to be home where we are supposed to be safe, and not worry about that, and it still happens, seems to be off kilter. Tell me I am wrong, but I will tell you, I would rather safe than sorry, I am sorry, but IMO depending where you work, Active Shooter scenarios don't work, neither does the response time.

To allow concealed carry on post we just need to do something like we do to the motorcyclists. You really have to want to ride with how we treat them and we could make mandatory classes on post and even higher qualification requirements than the civilian classes. As a critical care nurse, I have given meds to critically ill and injured that if I messed up someone could easily die yet they do not trust me with a pistol in my jeep?

How about if you are going to talk about police response and a particular event you actually know the event. One, he was not III Corps commander in NOV 2009 and two, Nadal Hasan was not killed in the event as the general spoke.
