I'm all for legalizing the drug. I just hope it's done intelligently with good taxes on it as well.

I don't understand why Pres Obama doesn't just direct the DEA to remove marijuana from the schedule entirely. Why should the DEA, a law enforcement agency that makes a lot of money from marijuana busts, be allowed to make the final determination. Seems like a conflict of interest to me.

The dumb thing is in December of 2014 Obama decriminalized Marijuana so the DEA would no longer prosecute states that have MJ laws on the books. One of the few things that guy did right, saved us millions if not billions a year in tax dollars that the DEA was wasting because after they raided co-ops and grows they would hand it over to local jurisdictions to prosecute who would in turn dismiss every case because it was legal in their land. For years that went on!

Why is a non-medical agency having a vote on something that, in my opinion, is a medical issue? Never mind my views on the substance as a recreational item for right now. Let's just talk medical uses. As someone who suffers from chronic pain and is absolutely sick of swallowing 25-30 pills a fucking day, I, for one, would love an alternative that doesn't make me shit telephone poles sideways. I know it has uses for PTSD and associated disorders for PTSD, seizure disorders, it has anti-cancer fighting properties, etc.,etc. This is all without smoking it or the THC (high) portion of the plant. When you factor in the THC portions of the plant then there's another world of treatments you can glean from the substance at varying levels. I'm hoping they do re-think their ancient and myopic views on this substance.
