A Brief History Of The Dog Tag

My Wife's great grandfather fought in the trenches during WWI for the British Army (near Ypres). I met him in the mid 1980's when we was 92 or 93 in England just before he passed away. He still had his leather dog tags (although they called them something else that escapes me now) with his name stamped into them. He was a sharp as a tack for someone of his advanced years. I remember those dog tags to this day.
