Army looks at extending basic training for new soldiers

I spent 11 weeks at Fort Benning. Only 9 weeks were actually training. The other 2 weeks were spent in he'll, 30th AG. Anyways, my entire company was everything but infantry. I believe 9 weeks was sufficient, at least for me. There are the folks who struggle with everything and have to be carried to graduation and I believe they should be more strict and not let some people skate by, by fudging their final APFT numbers so they pass.

In 1980, my basic at Fort Jackson was 12 weeks long. We did a 25 mile march with full ruck, weapon, and mask. All of us were going into infantry.
