I agree SGT Jonathon Caldwell, the answer to the VA Healthcare isn't with the private sector at all. Congress has been pumping hundreds of billions of dollars into the VA and they are simply mismanaging it. As SMSgt Minister Gerald A. Thomas says, perhaps the organization should only be run by people who have a military background and understand what it is like to be on the receiving end of VA healthcare.

I wonder how the VA compares to civilian hospitals: Systems, personnel(doctors, nurses, and specialists), demand, supply. And how many military or former military are in the middle and lower rungs where execution takes place.

SSG (Join to see) - Thats actually a very good question Keenyn. My brother, also a Vietnam vet works for the VA Hospital trying to finds jobs for vets. He is not that high up the ladder but he treats them all with respect and goes out of his way to help a lot of them. Its a dysfunctional organization where the roots of mismanagement run very deep.

SFC William Farrell - That would be describing organizations overly influenced by political consequences. It's very dysfunctional and mismanaged until there's a crisis or emergency. Then, politics may be pushed aside, unless it sees an opportunity. Then, it remains dysfunctional and mismanaged not matter what.

I think the correct answer is not "Politically" viable. First replace every "Administrator" With a Military or Vet counter part. PN, YN, ext. Between the 4 branches ... ok five if we count the CG (couldn't resist) we could easily cover it. Vets getting out have job opportunities and Active Duty folks have another option for Shore Duty. Then set a realistic pay scale for the Vets. You end the overhead corruption. Run it like a military organization. No more scandals, over paid dead beats ect. it doesn't matter what Branch your in we all take care of each other. Only someone that's been in our world can understand our world. It would also help locate the Stolen Valor scam artists that drain funding we keep having pop up in the VA's. But again its not politically viable as Washington is making bank off of us by having their people running the VA.
