Empty American promises and the lives they can cost

SP5 Christine Conley - Community organizers hand out flyers, take signatures on petitions, and speak to small groups about community issues. That's not only very poor preparation for a President, it's hardly the kind of work you'd expect a licensed attorney to be performing. Then there's his record as a state legislator and a US Senator. He rarely made decisions, voting present (which is the equivalent of abstaining - that is unable to decide) and he authored no legislation. He was pretty much like the "seat fillers" at the Academy Awards who sit in a seat while an actor or whatever goes to get their award (don't want any empty spaces when the camera pans the audience)

CPT Jack Durish - Captain; I seldom disagree with your logic (although sometimes I have difficulties with your postulates and definitions). Nor do I ever question the sincerity of your beliefs (even when I disagree vehemently with them).

SP5 Christine Conley - Spec; I suspect that you aren't likely to see any rebuilding of the "dignity of the office" anytime in this generation. If Mr. Trump wins, then America is going to be facing the spectre of "Trumpism" [ http://fee.org/articles/trumpism-the-ideology/ ]. If Ms. Clinton wins then America is going to see a repetition of the last eight years of attacks on the President of the United States of America by those who would rather rule a destroyed kingdom than not govern a vibrant and dynamic republic.

COL Ted Mc - One of the differences between us is that you rely on "facts" while I rely on reality. Facts are too easily adjusted to fit preconceived notions. (Remember the famous quote about "Lies, damned lies, and statistics"?) Reality is tougher to alter, although tougher to perceive. Preconceptions get in the way there too. I well remember once being caught flatfooted in the open when a VC patrol passed. I froze and one VC looked right at me, seemingly without seeing me. His mind must have refused to accept the fact that anyone could be that stupid. Well, I was. However, I'm so stupid as to accept facts being dished out by the govt. All reports that the economy has stabilized or improved during the past seven years are among my favorites. For example, unemployment is down, but so is employment even though the population has grown. How can that be? The "reality" is that it can't...

CPT Jack Durish - Captain; One of the reasons why the percentage of Americans who are "in the labour force" is going down the fact that the "Baby Boomers" are moving out of the "active labour force" (and not dying off right away).

The reality is that (provided that you don't ignore demographics) it is quite possible for "employment to be down" even though "the population has grown".
