I cant believe it took the Army this long to figure out that Soldiers need more time learning the basics of marksmanship. I think the way the Marine Corps has ran their marksmanship courses throughout the years is very effective, but all starts from basic training. Maybe basic training need to become longer and focus on weed out people instead of keep training garbage applicants that cant pass an APFT or qualify with their assigned weapons. Then their shortfalls become my problem because out of shape, negative attitude, cant shoot, have an excuse for everything private is the product of a feelings basic training. The same basic training were Drill Sergeants try their best everyday to make quality Soldiers but have their hands tied and may get in trouble when is too much yelling and cant smoke privates when they mess up. So now the discipline aspect of basic become a joke because Privates know there is so much the DS can do to discipline them. Marksmanship involves discipline but if we cant discipline Soldiers when they mess up to the fullest extent without having to worry about feelings how do you believe we will be able to teach them how to to kill the enemy which by the way is another person.
