I thought this was interesting. Many in the USA have been struggling to make ends meet over the past few years and sequestration has bounded the federal government spending.
As a second term President nearing the end of his Presidency it is disconcerting that he wants the "federal government to spend on former presidents" by 18%.
Social Security and VA Disability COLA was frozen this year. I doubt the COLA increase will be 2% if it is that much next year.

In his budget requests for fiscal years 2016 and 2017, Obama proposed hikes in the appropriations for expenditures of former presidents, according to a report from the Congressional Research Service published Wednesday.
The report, which discusses the pensions and other federal benefits offered to former commanders-in-chief by way of the Former Presidents Act, specifies that Obama’s 2017 budget proposes a nearly 18 percent hike in appropriations for expenditures of former presidents. He successfully requested an increase in such appropriations for fiscal year 2016.
“The President’s FY2017 budget request seeks $3,865,000 in appropriations for expenditures for former Presidents, an increase of $588,000 (17.9%) from the FY2016 appropriation level. The increase in requested appropriations for FY2017 anticipates President Barack Obama’s transition from incumbent to former President,” the report reads.
“For FY2016, President Obama requested and received appropriations of $3,277,000 for expenditures for former Presidents–an increase of $25,000 from FY2015 appropriated levels.”
The Former Presidents Act, enacted in 1958, provides living former presidents with a pension, office staff and support, funds for travel, Secret Service protection, and mailing privileges. It also provides benefits for presidential spouses. Currently, former presidents are awarded a pension equal to the salary of cabinet secretaries, which totaled $203,700 for the 2015 calendar year and was boosted by $2,000 for the current calendar year. "

So let me understand this. The most desive President in recent history that treated the GOP like dogs and thinks he is the smartest person in the room and since he burnt the bridges to the GOP long ago the only way he gets stuff done is to use illegal EO and his admin has seen a decline in middle class earnings wants a pay raise. BS. He should pay back what he already got.

Not to start a whizzing contest but: please honestly compare his list of awful accomplishments to the documented list of lies told. Analyze State of the promises vs what has been done. Al Gore's claimed "invention"of the INTERNET, is more valid.

I am trying to figure out how he earned the current 400K salary that a sitting President is getting. You can only hope that it doesn't pass. The perks of the office shouldn't follow after leaving the office. I agree with secret service, but not the staff, and especially the travel part. Getting a Job after the white house would be a wonderful thing, and speaking engagements, do not constitute a job. We had to hear his annoying voice for eight years, why do we need to pay to hear it after. There is no wisdom that this man could impart on anyone that is of any value...IMHO.

His biggest accomplishment was getting Hollyweidos to contribute campaign funds while he was blowing the travel budget. 15 minute spinach to justify $150.000 flight. How about he pays back the $400 Mil that SOLYNDRA was given for their bundled $1.1 Mil campaign donation.

His mother-in-law, also on vacation in Cuba, supposedly is PAID $90,000 a year as a nanny for the daughters. You would think that a 17 year old could babysit her 14 year old sister. The wore $17K and 19.9K designer dresses to their first state dinner. Hoo-ah!
