This is probably the most ludicrous ranking of Marine Corps bases I have ever seen - the top 5 worst include Pendleton, Lejeune & Cherry Point.... so okay Pendleton can be expensive living off post - it's freaking California for christ sake. Cherry Point & Camp Lejeune......'nothing to do' - apparently someone can't read a map nor comprehend the things available along the NC coast, not to mention probably some of the most affordable.
29 Palms - aka 29 Stumps, yes I can see that one, hot and nasty - also MCAS Yuma. Other bad spots....hmm expensive - try Hawaii - overall just bad Camp Schwab Oki.... smh...

Charleston SC was not a Marine base but we went to school there and it was just awesome I just loved to walk around Charleston and take in the beautiful homes and how clean the city was. People began their day by washing the steps and sidewalks outside their front doors and wave at you and wish you a nice day.. They even tolerated a Boston accent in Charleston SC & thought it was interesting ..

SSgt Dan Montague - I agree. I was at San Mateo on Camp Pendleton. Had San Clemente and the beach on our end. Oceanside on the other. Did time at MCAS El Toro and had friends up there close enough to visit. Camp Pendleton wasn't bad at all

Why is Camp Pendleton on the list? That's the best place to be stationed across all components!! I miss CP everyday.............

CP has everything you need! With the addition of he "Cantina" at Del Mar, my life was complete....

SFC Thomas Howes - I dunno Sgt Ivan Radusinovic. I'm not a Marine, so I wouldn't know the difference. Thanks for your opinion.

Always found something to like about every base I have been to. It's pathetic that people look for the bad instead of the good...

Capt Jeff S., I never gave any thought about where I was living. It was the friends I made that I enjoyed. No matter where we were, we were all in it together. I thought I hated BT at Polk, but. I didn't. It was some of the cadre, not the base. The base is what you make of it. If you choose to be miserable, your going to be miserable. If you choose, it doesn't matter, it won't matter. IMO
