Barack Obama officially launches Irish American Heritage Month

How will you be paying respects? March is now Irish History Month!
March is now Irish-American Heritage month. As an Irish immigrant on behalf of Ireland; I'll be accepting your thank yous for the many great contributions the Irish race has done for this country and the world.

For example-
The automobile (although indirectly.. I first generation American, Fords father was an Irish immigrant)
The submarine - John Holland an Irishman from Claire invented the submarine which the US Navy commissioned in 1900
You're welcome 19K - an Irishman invented your tank an Irishman named Walter Wilson in 1915 following Churchills request for something to be invented that could clear no mans land, pass over barbed wire obstacles, and sustain incoming fire.
A big thank you to John Joly from county Down in Ireland invented the Coloured Photograph as early as 1894... So think of all the moral boosting photos in magazines banned under general order that we all had that kept us going in times of conflict.
Ernest Thomas Sinton Walton, a physicist from Dungarvan, Co Waterford like a proper Infantryman knew a result he wanted- Splitting of Atoms - and just decided to Smash atoms together until he got what he wanted. He was the first to ever split an atom. (I may have taken liberties in describing the process of splitting atoms)

So now this month the army will host cultural meals at dfacs across the country. A full Irish morning fry up- served Friday and Saturday mornings with a pint. Best enjoyed while hungover the morning after the night before.
