Troll of the day award goes to..... COL Ted Mc . (a little Oscar head nod). This is a political hit piece of epic proportion.

The writer of this piece is Max Boot who is advising the Rubio campaign (unpaid). It is a classic hit job that cherry picks statements, forgets context and timing but I am sure it appears fair to many. It is intended to hit Rubio's opponents and hope no one does any digging to find out Max Boot is a Rubio loyalist.

I like Rubio and he is someone I might vote for in the primary but his henchmen are not doing him any favors here. This smells like GOP insiders trying hard to do their thing on the non establishment candidates.

COL Ted Mc Ted, I can't open the article any longer as there is a limit to the "free looks" you get with their site but I will concede that many, perhaps most of the quotes are accurate but I will also say they may lack context as well as sequence. This is one of the major issues we face in the political realm today. Lots of quotes, so little context. Something said 20 years ago is made to sound like it was said yesterday with none of the intervening quotes from then to now.

Think how Obama would sound now on gay marriage if someone used his quotes from 10 years ago with no context, sequence or follow up quotes as he evolved or devolved depending on your perspective on the issue.

Will you concede you posted a hit piece by a guy working on the Rubio campaign (unpaid) that you attempted to pass off as an objective commentary about his competitors in the race?

Cpl Jeff N. - Corporal; The motto could well be "So many quotes, so little context".

I will "concede" that I posted an article written by someone working for Sen. Rubio's campaign and that I asked two questions to stimulate debate. That seems to have worked.

COL Ted Mc Ted, Indeed it did spark some discussion/debate. Always enjoy the discussion with you even if you still refer to me as Corporal. Not that I minded being called one but that was well over 30 years ago. No one has called me that since 1985.

Cpl Jeff N. - Corporal; I do it so that I can remind myself that I'm being polite and not an acerbic, sceptical, cynical, old asshole (at least not completely).

MAJ (Join to see) - Captain; One factor that you appear to have overlooked is that "the American system" had 3.806 million mi² of virgin land (and all of the subsurface riches as well) to fuel it while no country in Europe did.

Another factor that you appear to have over looked is that "the Chinese system" is giving "the American system" a pretty good run for its money.

A third factor that you appear to have overlooked is that paying people $2.00 per day for a 10 hour day reduces your production costs from that which they would be if you were to pay them $10.00 per hour for an 8 hour day.

I don't argue with you one little bit that "good social programs create jobs" (however those jobs aren't necessarily "wealth creating" jobs), but if the corporations move the "wealth creating" jobs someplace else so that they can save money then even the best social programs won't create "wealth creating" jobs. It is the small and medium sized businesses which create the most jobs, but those businesses simply cannot survive without the cash flow from the large and mega businesses. You have to have a balance of both small/medium, and large/mega businesses in order to avoid having an economy where everyone takes in everyone else's laundry and everyone gets rich.

Cpl Jeff N. - Corporal; Are you telling me that Sen. Rubio IS NOT campaigning under the Republican banner?

Or are you saying that he is campaigning under the Republican banner but is using "dirty tricks" in his campaign? (I'd probably agree with you on that one, but I'm pretty flexible and I'm prepared to substitute any other candidate and/or party so that we can use the statement multiple times.)

COL Ted Mc . I don't believe I suggested he was not campaigning as a Republican. My comments are more directed at the writer of the piece than Rubio. He did a hit job on Rubio's opponents and is an unpaid adviser. I don't know enough about Max Boot to tell you where his real loyalties reside.

Cpl Jeff N. - Corporal; If you consistently bet that the loyalties of "political advisors" (even unpaid ones) lie wherever they see the highest possibility of personal benefit, you will eventually break the bank.

One could make the same argument for our current leader. Mr "pen and phone" himself. Supported Syrian Rebels who turned into ISIS, attempts to restrict firearms from law abiding citizens (something ALL dictators have done), uses the Supreme Court to literally create legislation through interpretation that fits his agenda, creates division among people on the basis of race, social class, etc. in an effort to push his own agenda and label those that don't agree with him as "racist" or right wing nutjobs, literally follows Saul Alinsky's "rules for radicals" to a T. Perhaps sir, you should check your bias. Let's not even get into the long history democrats have with racism in its purest, most evil and disgusting form. Just sayin.
