I remember when I first joined in 1997 - I was told (often) that if the Navy thought I should have a wife/family, they would have issued it to me in my sea-bag.
Having served under a few amazing mentors and excellent leaders in both the Navy and Army - they all had one thing in common, ensuring their subordinates had enough time to take care of their families/personal matters - especially when in port/garrison.

That's great Jason. I got called out in Nam because I wasn't writing enough letters home. I didn't know they kept track. Then when I got home, I asked my mother about where my letters were and she told me she threw them away. That was why I wasn't writing, but Top told me to write anyway. Lol
