The parallel with my experience and the article is a surprise. I pursued my MBA because there was an opportunity and I had benefits remaining. The side thought was it may help as I stayed in banking, but it wasn't my motivation (sales production was more important for progression in retail banking). Fast forward a few years and the masters degree was the edge needed to transition to higher ed, and then find a position of even greater responsibility. We earned these benefits, may as well use them to their fullest.
