as with any group in society there's good and bad
My personal belief on why allot of former military members are drawn to mc clubs is the brotherhood feeling and the feeling of others having your back when the chips are down.
The only advice would pass along to those looking at joining one is look into the philosophy (code) of the club and what group activities they do. as with anything in life fit is important

I am sure the majority of these groups are outstanding citizens that love their country and their fellow service members/veterans, however there is still a racial divide in some of these groups that is just insane. Some of these same service members and vets served with people of multiple different races and they still dont want them in their clubs. I know this first hand because when I was younger and checking out different military MC's around me, I corresponded with a high ranking member of a Colorado Springs military/vet MC and asked him what is the policy for "non-whites" to join (gotta know these things in the MC world) and he told me that black vets were not banned from joining, but that they discouraged it and didnt really want any in their chapter. I was like "wow!" Youre representing military and vets and you think like that? I thought to myself, why dont you just join another one of the racist organizations out there and leave military/vet MC's for real brothers in arms without an agenda? Just a headsup to my fellow minorities, do your homework on any club youre thinking of joining. Racism and exclusion is still real and relevant even in the military community. Know what youre getting into. Real brothers and sisters would not exclude you based on race

One of the main reasons that some of the old outlaw/ 1% MC's exclude black people is because of the racial discrimination that existed when they were founded. They put the exclusions in their bylaws and they stuck to their bylaws throughout the years. That is understandable even though most might not agree with it. They formed a tradition in their club and whether right or wrong, they adhered to their bylaws and never changed them. Now the other clubs that were founded way later that exclude minorities of certain ethnicities have no excuse and only do so out of pure racism. If you want to belong to a racist club or organization, be my guest. Just dont use a veteran/military platform for your agenda. That is not cool.

Combat Vets is a great organization that has Active Duty, Reserves, and veterans who get together for veteran's events. I've seen them put together events and motorcycle runs that have sponsored Honor Flight, Christmas presents for Veterans in Veteran Homes, putting together new home packages for homeless veterans getting new housing and more. This group is simply one that supports their brothers and sisters who just need a shoulder to lean on. Glad I belong to this crowd.
