She has set a bad presidence for any women planning on joining combat arms. Pvt. Lopez had the ability to make history and set a standard, but going AWOL wasn't the standard that needed to be made. Let's hope other women who join MOS such as combat engineer hold themselves to a higher standard.

Private Lopez should be punished any other AWOL soldier. If she was over 30 days she's a deserter and the consequences are even harsher.

I agree completely. I just hope other females who take on a challenge such as combat engineer, infantry, or any other combat MOS will be judged on their own accord and will succeed.
