I did not have a goal when I left the service. As a matter of fact I chose poorly and went down the wrong path. Learned quite a few harsh lessons along the way until one day I realized that I need to pull my head out of my ass !
Just remember it is never to late to set goals... Just never get overwhelmed in trying to achieve them. Make goals attainable... The objective is always there......Move on it ! Thanks COL Mikel J. Burroughs

Goal setting is good. But the individual that sets a goal must then be willing and able to go forth and do what needs to be done to help achieve this goal. Goals must also be set high, but achievable.... if the person never achieves a goal, that becomes discouraging and counter productive. Be willing to FAIL. Also be willing to adjust course and change goals as your needs, interest, desires fit. The goal that I had coming out of High School and while in the Army as a youngster are NOT entirely the same goals that I have now....a few of them may be close, but not the same.
