It's always great to see our heroes recognized like this. But it continues to baffle me why it takes so long to happen. This one was two years four months from action to award. I know they have to investigate and all, but come on.

LTC (Join to see), We're dealing with the government. It doesn't surprise me at all. Look how long it takes for our Veterans to be taken care of by the VA.

I agree 100% I'm not sure what the award authority is for the Silver Star but in my opinion it should be no higher than Division Level. If A Marine or Soldier Messes up they can Be NJPed within a Day, lose a Stripe, be fined, restricted and given extra duties. A Brigade/ Regimental Commander should be able to award Bronze Stars and AAM ACM (NAM/NCM for USMC/USN) on the spot.
