Pentagon: 2 U.S. Navy Boats Held by Iran Military

Iran has detained two small U.S. Navy craft and are detaining 10 U.S. Sailors. Iran is saying the Sailors are safe and will be released to continue their journey.
This is happening on the night of POTUS' State of the Union speech. Iran is also within 10 days of having sanctions lifted and receiving billions of dollars in connection with the deal. Iran has been escalating tensions between itself and the U.S. in recent weeks. This is a pattern of activity by Iran to try to create a confrontation between itself and non-shiite countries.

It is tiresome to keep pointing out that Iran has all the cards. Unless you want to tool up for an Operation OVERLORD or God forbid, another OIF, we had to use some pretty poor levers to get them to agree to anything at all. In this, as in so much else, President Obama has applied the art of the possible to this as he has done so well in so many other spheres.

Put another way, the Bush Administration so badly applied US military power that we now appear to be the Straw Giant we were perceived to be back in the 80's.
