How about this? I'm happy a female General will fill this position. She will be the first, but I'm sure, not the last. Hope all the cards are stacked in her favor. Hope she is given respect and a fair chance to be successful.

To use a politically incorrect line from the Dirty Harry movie, Magnum Force, "If the rest of you could shoot like them, I wouldn't care if the whole damn department was queer." Simply, It doesn't make a hoot who is placed in the job so long as the nominee is the most capable and the most qualified individual for the job. To choose an individual based on any other parameters is not good leadership.

A few years ago I was picked to have breakfast with General Robinson when she was the ACC vice commander. I got the impression she was an outstanding leader who truly cared about her troops. It was awesome to hear her views and opinions about things. I'm sure she would be a great NORTHCOM commander.
