Russia is more likely to ally with China against the US than vice-versa

LTC Eugene Chu agreed. Russia sees themselves as legitimate peer/rival/competitor to the US. In their hemisphere, they feel as they should be the center of gravity. (China feels the same way).
Post 9/11 provided the best possible scenario for Russia and the US to put aside a Cold War’s worth of traditional global power struggles. Rather, the past almost 20 years have only reset the competition and ratcheted up the drama in different and more dangerouss ways.
Simply, short of an Independence Day- type invasion, a genuine US/Russian alliance is hard to envision.

Agree with you that Russia could be a major power but I am far less optimistic that it will ever happen given the Russian internal prejudices that always seem to get in the way of anything more than a superficial friendship or alliance..........they are almost as bad as the Nazi's when it comes to respecting diversity or other cultures.
