He definitely was number one that day! Man, I love that his humor didn't leave him..."my flight lost me...". Lucky for that bomber formation they found him.

The heck of it was, Howard didn't get anymore kills after that action. He ended the war with six flying P-40Bs with the AVG in Burma and China and six in the ETO. He became group deputy CO for the 354th FG. . . .
