Because I was part of a special group of Warrant Officers that lived every day doing real world missions as an Attaché Technician. As an NCO working in this line of work it was great but as a Warrant Officer, it was even that much more rewarding. We pinned our bars right after WOCS and could do and fill any mission requirements as an Attaché Technician that our skills permitted and we were only limited by our imagination.

!!!!!!!!!!! Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I remember back in Fort Relaxing Jackson I came down on orders to work out of Harare in the DAS. I submitted my WO packet in 2005 while in Zimbabwe and was not selected. I got a call from the schoolhouse to re-submit my packet and got picked up while I was already on my 2nd embassy duty in El Salvador. With 16 years already in I still didn't hesitate and went Warrant. BEST decision i made. After 2 more embassies I moved on but there is no better experiences I had apart from working with DIA/DAS.

It is really good to hear from a fellow Attaché Technician. Yes, it was the best assignment I ever served. If I had to do it again I would not hesitate on doing it again. I retired 1995. When straight to the Department of State and did another 24 years. Retired October 2022.

By 2015 there were only a few dozen 350Zs left, and the Army killed off the MOS. I heard that it was brought back, after that knee-jerk decision.
