My father was in the Navy from 1951 to 1970. Back then it was rough for anyone that had a family to support in the military. They said you weren't issued a wife along with your sea bag. Dad was a golden Shell Back, he wouldn't wear a gold earring no mater how much I pestered him, and was eligible to wear gold hash marks. There was never a day I wasn't proud of him.
