Bio 

Military Experience Jason C. Diogo enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1987 where he underwent Basic Infantry Training at Harmony Church, FT. Benning, Georgia. After AIT and Basic Airborne School, he was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 187th Infantry at FT. Campbell, KY where he completed Air Assault and Sniper School. In December of 1989, Diogo was transferred to West Germany and assigned to 4th Battalion 12th Infantry (Mechanized) in Baumholder. While stationed in Europe, during the fall of the Soviet Union, he was selected for the USAEUR Infantry Skills Competition Team and attended the Primary Leadership Development Course. He served on active duty in various positions as an Infantryman through the grade of Sergeant until his transfer to the Florida Army National Guard in 1991. During Hurricane Andrew, Diogo patrolled the streets of Perrine, Florida, with B/2-124 Infantry. In 1993, Diogo was selected as the NCO of the Year for the State of Florida. In 1996, Diogo attended the John F. Kennedy Special Forces Qualification Course where he was selected as the Honor Graduate and earned the Leadership Award. In 2001, Diogo earned a commission through the Florida Officer Candidate School. As a graduate of OCS Class 40, he was placed on the Commandants list for the Infantry Officers Basic Course at FT. Benning, GA. Captain Diogo’s military assignments in the Florida Army National Guard include, Infantry Squad Leader, Special Forces Engineer Sergeant, Embedded Tactical Trainer in Afghanistan, Company Executive Officer, and Company Commander during Operation Iraqi Freedom 10. Captain Diogo's military awards include two Bronze Star Medals, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (4th Oak Leaf), the Army Achievement Medal (5th Oak Leaf), the Expert Infantry Badge, Jump Wings, Air Assault Wings, and a Special Forces Tab He earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Excelsior College and pursued a civilian career as a Deputy Sheriff with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office until July 2016. Captain Diogo and his wife, Sarah, reside in Cocoa, Florida, and have two daughters. Law Enforcement Experience In January 1998, Jason Diogo began a second, concurrent career, in Law Enforcement with the Brevard County Sheriffs Office in Titusville, Florida. As a Public Service Aid, Jason Diogo was assigned duties investigating burglaries and thefts. He was sponsored to the Law Enforcement Academy in Melbourne, Florida in 1999 and was sworn in a as Deputy Sheriff in January 2000. Deputy Diogo served in several capacities as a Deputy Sheriff including Patrol Operations, Field Training Officer, and as a squad Corporal at several different precincts throughout Brevard County. Additional assignments included: A member of the Brevard County Sheriffs Office Bomb Squad, a tour of duty with the General Crimes Unit, and as a Deputy within the Agriculture and Marine Unit. Law Enforcement Schools and Certifications include: Basic Law Enforcement Academy, Field Training Officer, Line Supervision, Instructor Techniques, Tactical Vessel Operators Course, Operator of Uninspected Vessel School (Captains School – maritime) and Sea Port Facilities Security Officer.
