Bio
56 year old Trans female having served 1985-1996 and now working for the state of California. Specifically for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (When I hired on it was just CDC. The "R" came along in 2005 when some brain trust felt that things should expand in an attempt to reduce the recidivism rate. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.)
Military Experiences
Started in Jul 1986
STS2(SS) 1985-1996
I helped track and trail the "other guy" at the tail end of the Cold War. I spent a LOT of time at sea to do it, but hey back then I was young and adventurous, and I loved my job.
I survived summers of babysitting Midshipman and annual inspections/examinations, and did so with some of the greatest people in the world.
I was a qualified Sonar Supervisor, and the leading "ACCINT Guru" in the division.
And the greatest achievement during my time on the boat was the day the CO pinned my Dolphins on. I'm a third generation "Dolphin Owner", so feeling and knowing that "link" was a fantastic realization.
Deployments
(7 years, 3 months)Jul 1986 - Sep 1993
Classified
Submarine Operations are still highly classified, so there's not much I can tell about where I went or what I did. Suffice it to say I made 5 deployments during my time on Rickover (4 trips North (1 FAO and 3 SpecOp) and a trip to the Med). I got to see a lot of really cool places spanning half the globe in that time too.
