Shipboard ET
Primarily HF Communications Tech, later added in WSC-3 UHF Sat-Com. Also, the onboard Crypto-man, Site TV broadcaster, and SNAP II geek. When the ship forward deployed, I took over all the Radar maintenance, and found my true calling. Best ring time on the west coast, baby! I was on the Emergency Flying Squad, the immediate response team for fire and emergencies. Main space fires SUCK! Twinned Agent Systems ROCK! While at sea in the SOCAL op-area, witnessed on TV the destruction of the Challenger. Bummer. Took dad on Tiger Cruise to Hawaii.++ My boot camp CC, GMGC H.M. Cottrell, was our Chief MAA. He helped keep me out of trouble in San Diego.
