Bio

I'm an Army 1SG with just over 22 years in service. I've been an EOD Tech for 18 years of my career. Currently I'm stationed at FLW, MO. I have found no more rewarding position than serving as a 1SG. In fact, I could very easily do this job until the Army doesn't need me anymore.

Military Experiences

Oct 2011 - Jun 2014
763rd ORD
1st Sergeant
Still doing it. I got selected to be a 1SG. I walked into an empty office and took over. I've grown the unit from 22 to 54. We have only individually deployed out of this company, So my guys have gone to RC North, RC South, RC Southwest and RC East, Chad, Congo, Iraq, brazil and Columbia. We have covered the 2012 presidential campaign. I'll update more when I move on, but for now, I'm still doing the job and loving it.
Feb 2010 - Oct 2011
Operations NCO
Here, I pulled off the Army miracle. Outside of my tour to Iraq, I spent 8 months and 10 days stationed at Hood. I knew I didn't want to be there, and I volunteered for the first WIAS that got me out. Turns out that WIAS was being selected to run a company as a SFC at FLWMO. My deployment for this assignment was longer than the assignment itself and a brief history is listed below.
Aug 2006 - Dec 2009
716th ORD (EOD)
Platoon Sergeant
This is the big change in my life. I've gone from being a Team Leader to developing Team Leaders. Now I have to manage three of my own teams. When the unit deployed, they had to leave 17 SMs back. I stayed back and ran as Rear Detachment Commander. Little did I know I signed up for one of the worst years in my career. You see, when a unit goes to war and has to leave Soldiers back, they ain't leaving behind their varsity team. DUIs, Suicide attempts, Chapters, and senior command issues. Never again. In the end, I came out on top, but looking back, I'd rather have deployed that year.

Deployments

(2 years, 9 months)
Aug 2010 - Aug 2011

I was the Operations NCO for an EOD Company deployed to COS Kalsu, Iraq. I mostly coordinated EOD reports, verified evidence submission, coordinated intel summaries. Secondary to that, I served as the headquarters PSG. Mostly, I spent the year dodging indirect fire. On occasion, I got to run an IED or two.
Jun 2005 - Jan 2006

I served as an EOD Team Leader. My areas of response were: From June to Sep, I covered the region of Mahmudiya, Yusifiya, and Lutifiya. From Sep-Oct, I was based out of Liberty North. We mostly responded to Southwestern Baghdad in near Abu Graib. For Nov-Dec, I supported the US Embassy by providing Security for the Hussein trial
Dec 2003 - Feb 2004

I served as an EOD Team Leader. I was based out of Eagle Main in Tusla. My team mostly worked on "Harvest" where locals turned in their weapons and explosives from the war. We disposed of the explosives. We also operated in Operation Armadillo where we helped the Bosnians dispose of stockpiled munitions
