Bio

I’m a recently-transitioned Marine Corps officer who honorably served 21 years. In June of 2013, I moved to Summit, Wisconsin with my family to start my second career and raise our son. As a new Project Manager, I feel my experiences as a Marine have prepared me well. Adapting to new work environments and duties, focus on mission, and fostering a strong sense of teamwork are all areas that I have plenty of experience in. After growing up in Elmwood Park, Illinois, I attended Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This well-rounded, yet highly-technical education prepared me well for a career in the Marine Corps. During my time in uniform, I travelled around the world, gaining a valuable appreciation of people and culture. My strongest attributes center on developing people in leadership roles. I’m most proud of our accomplishments in my last military assignment where we trained, supported and mentored our junior leaders, and placed REAL responsibility on their shoulders. This training focus was tested in extreme conditions overseas and produced stellar results. Some of my strongest beliefs developed over the years as a leader: - It’s always best to invest your time in people vice things. Make time to give quality feedback to your people. - If you can delegate something, do so. More gets done. - Most times we underestimate people’s capabilities. Challenge people and support their accomplishing goals. - Enthusiasm is infectious. So is negativity. - Beware of creating information requirements. These multiply overhead for your people. If you are asking for information, make sure you need it. - Remaining calm in stressful situations earns you immediate respect. - There’s no excuse for not having a 1,000 year old brain. Read. Reading can prevent you from being surprised in almost any situation. - Regarding promotion, recognition and advancement: If you work hard, people take care of you
