Bio
After I retired in 2002 I got into private security and investigations. I did that until October 2015 and then retired for good. Now I keep the road hot between my house and the VA in SLC. My wife retired from teaching and so we go on trips or sleep in, or whatever we feel like doing.
Military Experiences
Mar 1996 - Nov 1998
Nigtht Shift Duty Officer
Night shift DO, Liaison with Saudi Customs and immigration, RAF, and French AF and other US forces regarding air cargo and passengers. Also worked as the ATOC ramp tramp, QAE, and anything else we could think of to keep busy. KSA was an interesting place. We affectionately called it the magic kingdom. I went back after I retired for a year as a civilian. It's the kind of place that grows on you.
Deployments
(21 years, 7 months)Mar 1981 - Sep 2002
68th/67th Aerial Port Squadron (AFRES)
Our career field in air transportation deployed us often, sometimes up to 200 days a years. In my 21 years I saw 28 countries and 44 states. Being a 605/2T2 is the best kept secret in the military. While we definitely had our serious, scary, and dangerous moments we also had a lot of fun. However, when I got my 20 year letter I was ready to retire.
