Lieutenant Commander Scott McFadden is a native of Portland, New York. He completed his undergraduate studies at Jamestown Community College receiving an Associate in Applied Sciences in May of 1995. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from D’Youville College in Buffalo, NY in May of 2000. He accepted a commission into the United States Navy in September of 2001.
Lieutenant Commander McFadden’s first assignment was as a Staff Nurse at the National Naval Medical Center (NNMC) Bethesda, Maryland in both the surgical ward and emergency department. In May 2005 McFadden departed NNMC to Naval Hospital Guam where he served as a staff nurse in the Emergency Department. In April 2009 he reported to Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton where he again worked as a team leader in the Emergency Department. Soon after reporting, he deployed with the 1st Medical Battalion, CLR-15, Charlie Surgical Company, Shock Trauma Platoon Nurse to Forward Operating Bases Dwyer and Deleram in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. During that time he earned his Fleet Marine Force Warfare Pin. Upon completion of his tour Lieutenant Commander McFadden was competitively selected into the Navy’s Duty Under Instruction program where he earned his Master’s Degree from the University of Maryland-Baltimore School of Nursing as an Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner. McFadden reported to Naval Medical (NMCSD) San Diego, California for his post utilization tour serving as a Nursing Supervisor. Also, during that time he was deployed to Role Three Multinational Medical Unit Kandahar Airfield as Division Officer of the Emergency Department in support of Operation Freedoms Sentinel.
Lieutenant Commander McFadden is currently stationed at Robert E. Bush Naval Hospital Twenty Nine Palms, California where he has served as the Patient Centered Medical Home Port Clinical Business Manager, Department Head of the Adult Care Medical Clinic and Clinic Nurse Specialist in the Emergency Department. Additionally, he was hand selected as an Instructor for the first iteration of the Hospital Trauma Training Program at University Hospital Cleveland Medical Center, successfully partnering with a civilian facility to provide corpsmen with Level 1 trauma training furthering the Surgeon General Initiatives.
Lieutenant Commander is a board certified Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, as well as a board certified Emergency Department Nurse. McFadden’s personal decorations include the Navy Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy Achievement Medal (2 awards) and Army Achievement Medal
