Military Experiences

Jan 1982 - Apr 1984
Heavy dump truck Driver
Was unemployed and joined the ARNG. Asked if I could type and got a job doing the payroll, then mowing around the armory on Wednesday. Eventually I was put on day-to-day orders and worked at Camp Williams during the Annual Training season. I eventually worked in the Admin Office. I was able to get a short tour with National Guard Bureau Tour.
Jan 1972 - Aug 1972
Admin Clerk
Responsible for Decommissioning HEDRON. Was assigned to the base and was Water survival/safety NCOIC for the Base swimming pool, Base Theater, and North Beach. Reward for service for Adjutant and BG Wilson. I had a choice of a medal or transfer close to home.
Aug 1969 - Jan 1972
Administrative NCO
Admin responsibilities for the Adjutant. Correspondence, set up CONF, SECRET and "for your eyes only" TWIX's. Drove or hitch hike from quarters in Kaneohe Marine Corp Station.
Aug 1967 - Jul 1969
MWSG-37
Admin Chief
Admin Chief for MWSG 37. When I got to the unit they did not know what to do with 8 Water Purification marines. I was the only one who knew how to type and so I eventually became the senior marine as a Sergeant. I had to take the regulations and SOPs home and study. MCO 5000 was my guide.
