development, management, and community engagement at local, regional and national levels.
The national executive director of AMVETS. The first U.S. Marine combat correspondent to step into enemy territory after September 11, 2001, documenting American military action and providing it for broadcast throughout the international media.

Combat Correspondent
Part of the first U.S. ground force to enter Afghanistan, the first to provide combat footage of Operation Enduring Freedom, the first to report from inside a coalition detention facility in Afghanistan, first to report an Iraqi man had given American forces information about where U.S. Army prisoner of war Pfc. Jessica Lynch was being held, the the first to report the other POWs were rescued.

Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF)
Deployed from Camp Pensdleton to Camp Commando in Kuwait. Staged and trained there until the invasion of Iraq. Part of the Marine's main effort up the middle of Iraq under General Mattis.

Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) - Afghanistan
Forward deployed when 9/11 occurred. Went directly to Pakistan and then part of the first wave in the 400-mile amphibious landing in Afghanistan. Spent the next several months seizing locations in the Kandahar region, including the airport. Based in the USS Peleliu (LHA-5).
