I enlisted with a friend on New Years Eve 1969. I was 17, a high school drop out and was heading for a life of trouble in my home town of Everett, Washington. Because my only "legal" employment worth noting was with KFC, I enlisted to be a Food Service Specialist. I ended up holding every rank from PVT to SGM in food service, then served as a CSM for the last 6 years of my 29 year career.
