I began as a Printer before I was 5 years old. There were no Pre-Schools so I went to work with my father who owned a print shop. To keep from being bored to death, I memorized the typecase layout and I would copy whatever he gave me that needed typesetting. I did not learn to actually read for another two years and would drive my teachers crazy because I could read upside down and backwards. Spent 1 year at City College and discovered that I was smarter than the instructor and dropped out. Joined Mensa in 1962. Found that they only got together to tell jokes, play poker and drink. Dropped out in 1962. Was offered a Commission in the Navy and turned it down as I only planned to serve my country with one hitch. Spent 28 years and 9 months before retiring. Should have taken the Commission.

Ran a 9-man Printshop

Ran a 9-man Print Shop on an ASW Carrier. Spent some time with Navy Printing & Pubs, a small period with Naval Intelligence in Pearl, Command Chief Petty Officer and my last duty assignment was as Chief of the Boat of a Nuclear Submarine Repair Unit in San Diego.

Western Pacific

Did 6 tours in Vietnam working directly for an Admiral. Weapons specialist and Range Master. Trained the Vietnamese troops in shooting weapons. Performed more than 100 special jobs. My records were sealed for life. I was told that my 50 year Non-Disclosure Agreement expired and my records were destroyed. Cannot use to get Agent Orange relief in spite of a heart attack, diabetes type II, neuropathy of both legs, high blood pressure.
