Was assigned duty as Reservation Police, 1 of 6, and patrolled the City of Alongopo in a Willys Jeep. Really a dream assignment and a dream tour of duty.

4/10/2MarDiv deployed for Cuban Crisis. We were on a flat bottom LST in a wild winter storm for over a week. Never been so sick in my life. Pin in tank deck broke loose and missed a powder bag truck by inches. Three fires. Never get caught in passageway when the fire bell goes - sailors will run you over like a bull dozer and not even look back
