Bio
David McCaffrey is a member of the American Legion and presently serves as the Senior Vice Commander, 4th District, within the Department of Connecticut. He previously served as 4th District District Commander in 2017. David belongs to Post 101, in Somers, Connecticut and served as iPost Commander of the post from 2012-2019, and presently is assisting the post as it's Adjutant. David grew up in Somers and graduated from Somers High School in 1982. He served a full career in the United States Navy as a Naval Cryptologist, specializing in a very unique field within the intelligence community. David saw duty aboard ship, overseas, under-the-seas, airborne, and had many unique assignments worldwide, including the Pentagon, Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), and several key embassies. Following military service, David directed and managed industrial security compliance programs for several key defense corporations, the U.S. Health, and Human Services (HHS) Department, and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which eventually led David into developing his own company which specialized in security compliance and risk management.
The American Legion is a group of current and former military personnel that served honorably during wartime periods, such as World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Lebanon/Grenada, Panama, the Persian Gulf, Iraq, and Afghanistan. In addition to his activities with the American Legion, David currently is also a member of the Somers Volunteer Fire Department and ambulance and is an elected official presently serving as the town's registrar of voters. He was recently appointed to the position as the town's Municipal Veteran's Representative.
