Bio
I currently work for our local VA hospital, as a nurses assistant. I'm working on going to school to become a nurse, a huge step compared to the jobs I've had since I've been out of the military.
Military Experiences
May 1997 - May 2000
Squad Leader
During my tour here, we spent a lot of time training at our mount site to deal with situations in the middle east. Way before 9/11. In 1997 we deployed to Kuwait where I injured my back in the back of a Bradley, in 1998, we were training at Ft. Irwin, CA. where a fall down a 30 ft. cliff ended my career in the military, further injuring my back. I now serve my country helping our fellow vets. Not a day goes by where I don't think about my time in the Army.
Jun 1994 - Apr 1997
Bradley Gunner
I arrived in Germany as a Bradley dismount rifleman. During my tour here, we spent 6 months in Macedonia, working with the UN secure the border between Serbia and Macedonia. In that 6 months, we would spend 3 weeks at a time on individual mountain top stations, equipped with living, cooking, shower quarters, an ammo bunker, a security tower and radio bunker and a separate area for generator equipment and a helipad. My hill top was U-54. After our tour there was over, we returned to Germany only to immediately deployed to Bosnia on Christmas Eve, that same year, December 1995. Where we spent a month in Croatia, and 10 months in Bosnia at Camp McGovern, where later I became Bradley gunner. I was promoted to E-5 in Bosnia.
Jul 1993 - May 1994
Infantry Team Leader
After Ft. Ord had closed, we were given the choice to either go to Ft. Lewis, WA. or FT. Hood, TX. and being from TX. I decided to go to Ft. Hood. 1995 was going to be my last year of my four year enlistment. I decided to re-enlist because I've always wanted to go to Germany and they said they would give it to me if I re-upped. So I did and went to PLDC that same year for my E-5, I ended up going to Germany as an E-5 promotable.
Aug 1991 - Jun 1993
Infantryman
At Fort Ord, I held positions such as rifleman, saw gunner, RTO and 203 gunner. I went from E-1 to E-4 in a year. In my 2 years here, we were called to deploy to the LA riots after the Rodney King beating and the officers involved were found not guilty, their we pulled security on targeted buildings and were used as back up for local law enforcement. We trained at Ft. Hunter Ligget, CA. and Ft. Erwin, CA. Ft. Ord closed and I was transferred to Ft. Hood, TX.
