MAJ/SOCOM/WOUNDED WARRIOR
Proud Veteran and Iraq VET x2. I served in or near Balad Iraq twice (2005-06 & 2008). I was decorated in 2005 as the 1st USAF Family Practice physician to EVER manage a combat, surgical ICU in an active war zone. I managed the 7am-7pm SICU shift there where my daily intake/care included 25 new and or transitional traumas per day in this 35 bed ICU in our tent hospital. It may be the busiest SICU in the history of medicine and MY leadership and over-site helped my deployment period to have the lowest rate of morbidity,complications and death of ANY rotation (AEF Deployment cycle) in the history of the Iraq War. I went back to Iraq in 2008 to serve with 'Special Operations' in mostly "classified" missions.............. {{ CONTINUED UNDER 'DEPLOYMENTS' }}

PHYSICIAN SURGICAL ICU ATTENDING
Treated up to 28 of the most severely injured patients of the war daily as the Combat, 332nd, AFTH "Attending" (7 am- 7pm) for the Surgical ICU. Every patient was in critical condition with open abdominal/chest wounds, craniotomies, severe burns (one pt 90+ % ), every penetrating wound imaginable & virtually every patient on Ventilator support. I managed the SICU during the day & my friend/fellow Physician Maj. Mark R. managed the 7 PM -7 AM shift. It was verified in writing as to my accomplishment of being the 1st USAF FM/FP Physician in the HISTORY of the USAF (maybe DOD) to manage a Combat, AFTH (tent!) in an active war zone (Sunni Triangle) as the 'Attending' ( I did NOT have any "adverse events" & was told that my morbidity/mortality rate was among the lowest of OIF )- Decorated....
