Bio
As a Past National Commander of the NavySVA I have volunteered to provide support for a Memorial Scholarship fund raiser for CM3 Marvin G. Shields as a patriotic remembrance of his service to our Nation. He was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Lyndon Johnson, this year is the 50th Anniversary of Petty Officer Shields death. The ceremony honoring him will be June 10, 2015 in Gardiner, WA.

Construction Utilities Master Chief Jerry Landcastle is retired with 20 years service to the Country, Navy and Seabees. Resides in Surprise, AZ with his wife Sharon of 54 years. Their grown children, SWC Scott Landcastle (SCW) (Ret.) of Sacramento, CA, Maureen of Ritzville, WA and Robyn of Ferndale, WA plus Grand Children and Great Grandchildren maintain active relationships with Seabees and Veterans around

Navy Recruit
Sworn in at Buffalo, NY all Recruits transported to train station in Buffalo and departed about 2200 by train for Baltimore, MD. Picked up and transported to Mess Hall aboard Bainbridge Navy Recruit Training Center. Graduated as E2 in December given 14 days leave, returned to obtain orders in late December given 72 hour liberty over New Years. went to times square for a big time on that 72. Uniform was dress blues with Flat Hat and "P" Coat. Did not have to buy any beer or hotdogs all were free to sailors.... Life was good already had two weeks leave had four teeth pulled got a bag full of new cloths and $77.10 per month. Life in the US Navy was good.
