Company Commander
As Company Commander successfully graduated over 1,000 male United States Navy Recruits from Boot Camp and Basic Aviation or Airman School from 1990-1993. My name (ABH-1 Wesley Etheridge) is on the Recruit Training Command base closure list as one of the remaining Sailors to close down RTC San Diego CA.

Military Police Officer (MP)
Performed all police and dispatcher duties as assigned including traffic control, vehicle accident investigation, assault and domestic violence incidents, larceny etc. Seized and confiscated over 100 lbs., of marijuana after aircraft mishap in which two Columbian smugglers (Cessna private aircraft) attempted to land on the runway of NAS Jax in dense fog approximately 3:00 am in the morning while running out of fuel. They eventually ended up crash landing killing both individuals.

Aviation Boatswainsmate Handler
Arrived onboard the "FID" while it was in the yards in Portsmouth Virginia, mess cranked and participated in work-ups and Sea trails as a blue shirt , eventually became a 3rd Class and Elevator Operator. As Fly-3 Blue shirt was on deck for Aircraft mishap January 15th 1978 when ABH-2 Jessie Puente (FLY-3 PO) and ABH-3 Johnny Gill (Assistant FLY-3 PO) lost their lives during that Re-spot incident. Reenlisted in September and transferred to Misawa Airbase Japan

World cruise started from Naval Station Norfolk December 23rd : highlighted visits included Rio de Janeiro, Subic Bay Philippines, returned state side at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard Bremerton Washington for nuclear overhaul.

Type -3 Sea Duty assigned to the Transit Line Misawa Air Base, other highlights: worked at Ripsaw Bomb Range, played on nine man Navy Football Team and Base 11 Man Team the Misawa Jets.

Mediterranean
Second Tour on Forrestal CV-59 after completing Type 3 Sea Duty at Misawa Airbase Japan. Flew out to the Mediterranean to catch ship in Rota Spain as she in chopped, completed remainder of deployment and rode the "FID" back into Mayport Florida. That day of returning the "FID" ran aground and was stuck till the high tide came in.
