Bio
Gilchrest is a Program Assistant of Community Advising for the Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF). He is responsible for support and assistance in relationships with community agencies in the AmericaServes program.
He served in the Alaska Army National Guard for just over 4 years, he transferred to the Alaska Air National Guard in March of 2017 and is currently serving.

I was assigned many additional duties, but my main role was to maintain my assigned weapons systems.
As a guardsman, most of the MP training revolved around combat situations. Our commander expected us to be proficient in convoy operations, setting up checkpoints and detainee operations.
In July of 2015 I graduated from the Warrior Leadership Course, I received the distinguished leader award and was the only soldier in my class to make the Commandants list.
