Bio
It was my honor to serve in personnel because it was a way to thank those who gave of themselves by way of due diligence on paper: Retirement packets; Award Packets; Good Conduct Medals and ID Cards for members and their families.
Since leaving the service, I have continued to "sharpen the pen" and I would love to be able to use what I now know to market Veteran owned Companies. Maybe yours.
Wanda Vergara-Yates is a writer, poet, and amateur painter. Her most recent adventures are being collected into a humorous advice anthology that will be titled "How to Get Your Book to Write Itself." The first novel is still in progress.
Military Experiences
Nov 1990 - Jun 1992
Awards Clerk (Corps Level)
High profile awards processing at Corps Level; monitoring progress actions pending. Write/edit as needed. I learned more about writing well while performing this job than anything I ever learned before or since. In the process of editing others I lost my voice and had to find it.
Apr 1989 - Oct 1990
Retirement Clerk (Corps Level)
Processed all retirements for time of service at Corps Level; Note that I cut the orders. It was my successor that had to rescind/revoke them due to Stop/Loss. Everyone loved me and hated him. Poor guy.
Mar 1988 - Feb 1989
ID & DEERS Clerk
ID Card processing/DEERS enrollment. It was a fun job because I was the peon fresh out of training with no responsibility. Smile for the camera sweety...
