SFC Caldera, Carmelo was born in San Juan, P.R. He graduated from Isidro A. Sanchez High School on 05 May 1989 and joined the Puerto Rico Army National Guard on 18 January 1998 after serving seven years with the National Guard decided to became active duty in May 2003. SFC Caldera completed Basic Combat Training at Ft. Jackson and Advanced Individual Training at APG, MD. as a 91B.
