Ammunition Chief
My primary day to day responsibility was as Supply Chief for the battery maintaining accountability for approximately $2 million worth of equipment.
My role as Ammo Chief was primarily during field ops, training exercises, and deployments. During my deployment, I oversaw storage, transportation, distribution, and accountability for several million small arms rounds, artillery rounds, and ancillary supplies for the artillery rounds. I received a NAM for my proficiency and conduct as Ammo Chief on my deployment with Bravo Battery.
Dec 2008 - Jun 2009
Armory Custodian
I was transferred to 5/10 after my first deployment and since no using unit needed an ammo tech, I was assigned to the armory.
In the last few months of this assignment, before transferring to B Battery 1/10 to serve as ammo chief, our armory served primarily to outfit SNCOs and Officers of the 1st Marine Brigade being stood up for service in Afghanistan.
Nov 2007 - Dec 2008
Ammunition Technician
In the rear I wore many hats and essentially filled whatever role was needed at the time.
During field ops, training exercises, and deployments I was tasked with storage, transportation, distribution, and accountability for ammunition under the supervision of my ammo chief.
Jun 2007 - Nov 2007
Ammunition Technician
I was officially assigned to 5/10 out of MOS school, however, since 5/10 was deployed, I was sent to 3/10 in the meantime.
I worked in the S-4 shop of the HQ battery. As an ammo tech, I procured, transported, and distributed ammunition for M9 qualification ranges for SNCOs and Officers.
When not acting as an ammo tech, I filled various roles as needed for S-4 and battalion needs such as barracks maintenance and logistical support.
Deployments
(1 year, 3 months)Jan 2010 - Aug 2010
Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) - Afghanistan
I deployed with 1/10 Bravo Battery on the 24th MEU as part of 1/9. We provided humanitarian aid in Haiti following the earthquake and engaged in training exercises with various national militaries throughout the Arabian Gulf. I received my Shellback on this deployment.
Apr 2008 - Oct 2008
Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF)
I deployed with 3/10 Echo Battery, and our mission was Task Force MP based in the Al-Anbar province. I held two roles during this deployment: the first as one of two battery ammo techs and the other as a member of an MRAP crew. During missions we transported goods, detainees to be released, and provided security for Navy Seabees operations.
