PSAB, Prince Sultan Air Base
Airborne Ops Supt for RIVET JOINT ops - great deployment, great people, French chow hall had much better food than the US one.
Jan 1987
NATO Conference, St. Martin, Germany
Reps from: France; Germany; Belgium;US; one other. All German speaking conf, my roommate Gendarmerie Patrick Kessler, great guy-loved aperetif and smelly cheese. Each country's cuisine featured for lunch-US was ribs and such. Everyone ate w/ forks/knives, but US. Broke ankle 4 days prior, walking cast via duty train, Deutsche Bahn und danach, Taxi.
May 1983 - Jul 1983
Honduras
....after two months, still nobody knew what the heck we were there for....at Toncontín Int'l Airport (QRP comms van) --- and other mobile comms units followed suit, 2 months at a wack x 2 years.
Aug 1982 - Sep 1982
NUWAX 1982 (Nuclear Weapons Accident)
To Mercury Test Site, Nevada (75 miles from Nellis AFB). Gorgeous mornings, as a non-morning person. Scary deployment in that several QRP (Quick Reaction Package) folks refused to go due to radiation concerns for both THAT operation and some '50's John Wayne movie where crew members supposedly got cancer from the earlier-years nuke tests and died.
