• Fire Direction Center – Plotter – Takes the information from the Forward Observer and converts the math in to data that is sent to the gun line. • Forward Observer – A mortarman/ radioman attached to an infantry unit utilized to observe and report on a targeting area. • Plotted possible targets on a map using the longitude and latitude and relayed the targets via cryptic radio to the Fire Direction Center. • Squad Leader - responsible for a five man gun team and the tactical employment of an 81mm medium mortar. • Gunner – responsible for making sure the gun is sited in with the right data on the site. • A-Gunner – responsible for setting the charges on the mortar rounds and drops the rounds to be fired.
